bad week

Ugh. Bad week. Roughly a month ago, I fell, accidentally and absolutely, in love with someone. The most amazing man I’ve ever known. Funny, gorgeous, remarkably intelligent. It happened so fast, and so subtly, that I didn’t notice it until it was too late. Entirely too late. Since then I’ve been distracted, daydreaming and silly like a stupid, hormonal schoolgirl. Disgusting. I can barely stand to be around myself, as I am utterly repulsed by my own behavior. Not to mention miserable, because I was unsure of his feelings toward me. Yesterday, I wanted to woo him away from the real world, never to leave his side. Currently, I hope never to see him again. Never to hear his voice or even his name, ever again, as long as I live. Longer. However, I know that by tomorrow, I will be lost again. Hopeless.

ravenwood!

I think I discovered the name of my house on Friday afternoon. I asked her what she thinks of it, but, strangely enough, she didn’t answer. I think it suits her, tho. Ravenswood.

my girls!

Last night was such fun! We had intended to go out and be rowdy, for St Patrick’s Day, but it ended up being Susan, Ann, Jodi, Karen, Kurt, Melissa, Me, Jan, and a couple of other people, all crammed into Ann’s house, having a blast. I’ve never really had girlfriends before. I’ve had one or two at a time, but 99% of my friends have always been men. So I’ve never a big group of smart, excellent, crazy, fascinating women to hang out with at once. It’s so cool! Ann made corned beef and cabbage (she’s a fantastic cook) and I brought this amazing red zinfandel that was recommended to me by a dear lady, which went flawlessly with dinner. Gorgeous, with a real zing to it. I’m going to get some more today for my dinner tomorrow night, I think. Tangent. Anyway, I was trying to explain to Susan, on the way home, how unreal it is to me, to find myself surrounded by female friends. She had a dinner a few weeks ago, and I’d never sat at a table of all women and talked and laughed until 3am before. I hate to be philosophical about it, but I really, really like it. It makes me much more enthused to be female…

housewarming!

I’m so psyched. I’m having my first dinner in my new house on Sunday night. Just a few people, but it’s going to be great. I’m making lasagne, and I just started a pot of my famous bad ass spaghetti sauce on the stove. It has to cook for days to be really perfect, so I had to go out and get groceries after working late tonight, to get it going. I found some halfway decent sourdough, too, which is a rarity in this town. I’ll have to make my own when I have a chance, but that takes forever…

capital idea!

A Pakistani judge today sentenced a man to be publicly strangled, cut into pieces and thrown into acid for murdering and mutilating 100 children. Now that’s capital punishment!!!

good times. good times.

Ten years.
