Have a wonderful Halloween and Samhain. Our fanciful and frightful costumes may once again chase away the evil in this world. May the beauty of autumn and the passing of Sun King teach us all “to know that in this time of greatest darkness there is also greatest light.” As my father would say, “illigitimi non carborundum.” Enjoy.
It’s snowing! Snowing snowing snowing!!!
The outside electric wires and floodlight were replaced this morning (stuff I can’t do myself), and I got my last fall pictures yesterday before we went to the park (all of the leaves are gone there already). Now if I can just get this silly boy to start talking to me again… (and admit I’m right…)
The last of the fall perennials are in the ground (except the asparagus, which will wait til tomorrow), the house is painted, the garage door opener’s installed. I’m ready for winter. It’s supposed to snow on Wednesday.
God what a day. If it weren’t for warm beds, fuzzy puppies, cold lime gin, and good spy novels, I don’t know what I’d do…
You know… I’m losing my sense of humor with these stories about our bombs randomly hitting peacekeeping buildings. When every other blast is surgically precise and on target. Let’s think… There must be, what, four buildings in Afghanistan that are western sponsored? And we’ve hit a UN-based landmine extraction team, and now the Red Cross? Both of which were set up to help the Afghani people, who’ve been victimized by their government for years? What an incredible coincidence. Can anyone please give me a fucking break?
My house is *so* beautiful. The new paint is absolutely stunning with the brick, and she looks so happy and gorgeous now. It was even worth going up on that hiiiiiigh ladder…
Damn it. I know I’m right. Why can’t you just tell me I’m right?
