FEMA Issues

I can’t, in good conscience, jump on the “FEMA sucks” bandwagon, because I still believe so much of the fault after Katrina lies in the local New Orleans government. But I need to get this out.

Somebody who asked for assistance after Katrina - whether legitimately or fraudulently - gave them my cell phone number to contact her. The first time they called, and I heard the voicemail, I was seriously concerned for this poor woman’s livelihood, and called them back. I explained that they had a wrong number, that the area code for my phone isn’t even in Louisiana, and they thanked me and told me they’d remove my number.

But it’s a government organization, so naturally the calls didn’t stop. I’ve now been receiving calls for this woman for months, roughly one a week since last October. Every time they call, I tell them it’s the wrong number and wish them luck, and they promise to remove my number.

However, they are still obviously moving forward. The fact that they’ve never been able to contact this woman to verify her claim has apparently not deterred them from processing her request. I just got another call, a recording, saying that she should expect the final paperwork in the mail shortly. I have no reason to believe there isn’t a check on the way.

Anyone else have an issue with this? Or am I just getting touchy about all the calls?

Order of the Phoenix

A bunch of new castings for the next Harry Potter movie…

Imelda Staunton is playing Professor Umbridge. I’m not familiar with her, but this shot from Nanny McPhee and her role in Chicken Run sure imply she’s up for it.

Evanna Lynch is Loony Lovegood. She’s a newcomer, but she looks almost exactly like I pictured her.

George Harris is playing Kingsley Shacklebolt. This picture looks a bit more like it. Like most people, I wanted Samuel L Jackson, but in retrospect, that would be a little cliched.

And Natalia Tena is playing Tonks, one of my favorite minor characters. This is the only picture I can find, and I can’t remember who she played in About A Boy, but there’s a lot of rave reviews for both her acting and beauty out there for her.

Filming starts Monday. Woohoo!
