I don’t get it.

Bush invites Palestinian leader to White House

The White House says President Bush is inviting Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas to the White House in an effort to advance Mideast peace talks.

Johndroe said that although details are still being worked out, the talks at the White House likely will happen around May 1.

Call me a pessimist, but I really don’t understand why this continues. The Palestinians are asked to make no changes, except stopping their violence. Israel, on the other hand, is forced to makes concessions, give up land while continuing to supply electricity and clean water to that ceded land, bow and scrape — and the attacks don’t stop.

Why are we inviting these terrorists and liars into, not only our own country, but right into the White House? Giving them a nice meal and a cajoling talk is going to make them stop dropping rockets on the homes of civilians, in a country that’s been one of our few unquestionable friends for sixty-plus years?

I just don’t get it. Giving a bully your lunch money only keeps him away from you until the next day. He’s still going to come back for your lunch money again, tomorrow.

You’re completely right. It’s insanity. Unfortunately this insanity occurs in the last full year of every president’s term. Legacy, all about the legacy.

With Abbas basically threatening to return to terrorism last week, the complete lie is put to the idea that the PA accepts the existence of Israel. It’s just that they think bs’ing is getting them closer to their goal of ethnically cleansing the Jews from Israel than terrorism. The survey recently done that showed over 70% approval of the attack on the yeshiva students says it all.

We should cease all aid but food and medicine to the West Bank and Gaza.

Bush should give up on Abbas and focus on the Iraq/Iran front. That is where his legacy really is.

Sorry if I sound harsh, I’m a bit emotionally involved in this issue. Do the words “Never again” mean anything?

I used to think this kind of thing was rope-a-dope on the part of Bush, but it’s hard to believe that now. I think the bottom line is that Bush really does think something can be accomplished. Unfortunately he’s badly mistaken, just like his predecessors who tried it.

No, I think this time he really might be onto something. :-)
