Twenty Bucks

So Crow and I were at Petsmart this morning, and as we were walking out, I saw a credit card lying on the ground in the parking lot. I went, “Hmmm. That’s not good.” So I picked it up and, not seeing anyone around who was looking for it, stuck it in my pocket.

I was going to call the credit card company, but then I figured the guy would be worrying, and he’d have to wait for the new card, yadda, etc. So I googled him (unusual name) and called to let him know I had it. His wife made a big fuss over what a saint I am (HA!), and he verified the card number and lender over the phone, and I told him where he could meet me.

Anyway, when we met, I had him show me his ID, and I gave him the card back. And then he forced twenty bucks on me. I tried to convince him to give it to the Humane Society or something, but he wouldn’t hear it, and it got awkward, so I took it.

Now I can’t spend it, you know. There was only one civil option and I took it, and I can’t take money for that. So I ask you. What should I do with the twenty bucks?

Buy a toy for the goggie, of course. He’s adorable, by the way.

Buy some big bags of dog and cat food and donate them to the local shelter.

Given the season, I’m sure there’s a giving gree kinda deal somewhere around town - maybe pick a name off it and spend your $20 on the person’s request? We even have a humane society giving tree with their needs, so that’s an option, too.

Giving TREE, not giving gree. Sheesh.

Donate it to a worthy cause. I personally don’t give to homeless shelters (I think they are enablers) but there is toys for tots, the Second Amendment Foundation, the Make a Wish Foundation, Animal shelters. There are plenty of worthy charities out there that are for the truly needy and not for the lazy.

I say do something nice for yourself, you earned that money. Yes, my dear, you went out of your way to ensure that someone else didn’t have to go through a hassle. You did it without any intent of monetary gain. What you did was worth the $20 from the gentleman’s perspective (I’d have done the same).

So, spend it on something that makes YOU feel good. If that’s charity, so be it. But don’t feel bad if you use it for a nice meal or some well deserved pampering.

I’d invest in some protective cover for your kindle. Dogs are not like lightening.

You mean apart from the leather cover that’s on it? If you want it to have a titanium cover, you’re welcome to buy it for me.
